Financial Statements

The city must, under the terms of the Local Government Act, have audited Financial Statements prepared. They must be prepared on the basis of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles for Public Sectors. These recommendations are set by the Public Sector Accounting Board of The Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants.

Tax Rates

Property Tax Notices are mailed by the last week of May and property taxes are due July 2nd (or next business day, if falls on weekend) each year. Unpaid taxes after this date are subject to a 10% penalty.

SOFI Reports

Pursuant to Financial Information Act Regulations, a Statement of Financial Information (SOFI) Report must be prepared and made available within 6 months after the end of each fiscal year.
